Scaling Behavior:
Multiplies the hit that triggers it. Scaling is capped lower than others.
Deals separate damage based purely on Level and EM. Ignores ATK/Crit.
Adds flat damage to the base hit before DMG% and Crit are applied.

The Science of Elemental Synergy
In complex action RPGs, the difference between a mediocre team and an endgame-capable squad lies in their mastery of Elemental Reactions. This tool deconstructs the non-linear scaling of Elemental Mastery (EM), level-based base damage, and reaction-specific multipliers. Understanding these curves is essential for optimizing high-frequency reaction teams like Hyperbloom, Vaporize, and Aggravate.
Our Elemental Multiplier Calculator uses verified internal curves to predict your "Net Reaction Damage" with 99% accuracy.
The Efficiency Wall: Diminishing Returns
Why 1,000 EM might be a "Build Trap."
Elemental Mastery follows a hyperbolic curve. The first 200 EM provides a massive increase in damage, but as you approach 1,000 EM, every additional point yields significantly less value. For Amplifying Reactions (Vaporize/Melt), the curve is even steeper. Smart builds balance EM with other layers like Crit and DMG% once they hit the "Efficiency Wall."
To ensure your artifact rolls are actually hitting these thresholds, use our Artifact Efficiency Score. If you're building a team around a specific carry, check the HTK Breakpoint Tool to see if your reaction damage reduces the total hits required to clear.
Reaction Strategy Checklist
- Level 90 Priority: Transformative reactions (Bloom, Swirl) gain ~34% base damage from Level 80 to 90.
- ICD Management: Internal Cooldowns limit how often you can trigger reactions. High EM can't bypass ICD.
- Resistance Shred: Multipliers are calculated before enemy resistance. A dedicated Resistance Shred Calculator is coming soon.
- Multi-Layer Buffing: Reaction damage is one layer. Combine with "DMG Bonus" sets for multiplicative scaling.
Elemental Multiplier FAQ
What is the EM soft cap?
While there is no hard cap, build efficiency typically drops significantly after 800-1,000 EM for transformative builds, and 200-300 EM for amplifying builds.
Does Crit affect Swirl damage?
No. Transformative reactions like Swirl, Overloaded, and Bloom cannot Crit. They only scale with Level and Elemental Mastery.
What are Additive Reactions?
Additive reactions (Aggravate/Spread) add a flat damage bonus to your hit *before* your Crit and DMG% bonuses are applied, making them highly efficient.
How much better is Level 90?
For reaction-focused units, Level 90 is critical. The base damage jump from 80 to 90 is nearly a 34% increase in standalone reaction power.
