Technical Benchmarks:

Crit Value (CV)

Calculated as (Crit Rate × 2) + Crit DMG. The gold standard for DPS artifacts.

Efficiency %

Compares your rolls against the theoretical maximum for your character's role.

Fodder Check

Logic identifies "dead stats" that provide zero value to your specific role.

The Science of Artifact Optimization

In endgame environments like Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss or Honkai: Star Rail's Memory of Chaos, the difference between failure and a perfect clear often comes down to gear quality. Our Artifact Efficiency Score tool provides a technical audit of your substat rolls, accounting for the "diminishing returns" of certain stats and the specific needs of your character's role.

# The Crit Value (CV) Standard
Crit_Value = (Crit_Rate * 2) + Crit_Damage

While CV is the industry standard for DPS units, our calculator goes further by evaluating **Total Roll Value (RV)** across all useful substats.

The Efficiency Trap: Why CV Isn't Everything

Why a 40CV piece might still be "B-Tier" gear.

Many players focus exclusively on Crit stats, ignoring vital secondary stats like Energy Recharge (ER) or Elemental Mastery (EM). A DPS unit that cannot burst on cooldown due to low ER will always perform worse than one with lower Crit but high ER. Our tool uses role-based weighting to ensure your supports and sub-DPS units are graded against their actual utility requirements.

To optimize your team's total damage output beyond gear, use our HTK Breakpoint Tool to see if your gear improvements actually reduce the shots needed to kill. If you're managing resources for new characters, check our Currency ROI tool to audit your pull efficiency.

Gear Audit Checklist

  • Roll Tiers: Not all rolls are equal. Genshin artifacts can roll 70%, 80%, 90%, or 100% of the max stat value.
  • Dead Stats: Flat HP, Flat DEF, and Flat ATK are usually "dead" rolls that provide near-zero endgame value.
  • Speed Breakpoints: In Star Rail, hitting the 134 SPD breakpoint is often more valuable than a 10% Crit DMG boost.
  • Fodder Threshold: Generally, any piece with less than 60% efficiency should be used as XP fodder.

The 80% Efficiency Standard

For competitive endgame builds, an 80% efficiency score (Grade SS) is the target threshold. Achieving this requires at least 4 "high-tier" rolls into useful substats. Pieces that exceed 90% (Grade SSS) are exceptionally rare and should never be used as fodder, even if the main stat is currently niche.

Our algorithm analyzes the Roll Distribution to identify "God Pieces"—artifacts that have hit maximum roll values in all four substat slots.

Roll Value & RNG Math

  • 01. Initial Rolls: Artifacts starting with 4 substats have a significant mathematical advantage over 3-stat starts.
  • 02. Main Stat Weight: While we grade substats, always prioritize the correct Main Stat (e.g., Elemental DMG Goblets).
  • 03. Probability Audit: Use our Loot Probability tool to see the odds of dropping your specific set piece.

Artifact & Relic FAQ

What is a good Crit Value (CV)?

For a single artifact, 30+ CV is considered "Good," 40+ CV is "Excellent," and 50+ CV is a "God Roll."

Why does my grade say "Fodder"?

This occurs when your artifact has rolled mostly into "Flat" stats (HP/DEF/ATK) which do not scale well into the late game.

Does this work for Honkai: Star Rail?

Yes. Select "Star Rail" in the settings to use HSR-specific stat weights like Speed and Break Effect.

How is efficiency calculated?

Efficiency = (Your weighted stat values / Theoretical maximum possible rolls) × 100.

Our Artifact Efficiency tool utilizes verified game-data multipliers and standard community weights to simulate gear potential. Simulations are provided for strategic analysis only.
