How This Clash of Clans Upgrade Calculator Works

This Clash of Clans upgrade calculator estimates the Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, builder time, and Laboratory research time left to max your Home Village Town Hall — or to plan a full upgrade path through a higher target Town Hall. Because builders, the Laboratory, and the Pet House all run as separate, parallel queues, the calculator tracks each one independently instead of adding their durations together.

Enter your current Town Hall, roughly how far along each category is, your builder count, and any cost or time reductions — the calculator returns remaining resource totals, a calendar-time estimate for each queue, and the single track that's actually holding your account back.

Why Parallel Queues Matter

Village progress splits into three independent queues. The calculator never adds their durations together — it takes the longest one, because that is the queue actually determining how long you'll wait.

Builder days and Laboratory days cannot simply be added together because they run at the same time, not one after another. If your builders need 40 days and your Laboratory needs 60 days, the true time to max is 60 days — not 100 — because both queues are running in parallel throughout that period. Adding more builders shortens the builder queue but has no effect on Laboratory or Pet House time, since those are single, independent queues regardless of how many builders you own.

Builder Time vs Laboratory Time

Builder Work

Divisible

Buildings, traps, and Heroes all consume a builder for the duration of their upgrade. Total builder work is divided by your builder count (1–6), so adding builders directly shortens this queue.

Laboratory & Pet House

Not Divisible

Troop, spell, and siege research runs through one Laboratory queue; pet upgrades run through one separate Pet House queue. Neither is affected by builder count — more builders never speeds up research.

This is why the calculator reports a separate calendar duration for each queue and a bottleneck label — the queue with the longest remaining duration is the one actually controlling your time to max, and it's frequently the Laboratory, not builders, at higher Town Halls.

Resource Totals: Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, and Walls

Buildings, Heroes, Laboratory research, and Pet House upgrades each draw from Gold, Elixir, or Dark Elixir depending on the category — the calculator sums exactly what each remaining upgrade actually costs. Walls are reported separately as a flexible budget rather than split into Gold and Elixir, because wall levels can be purchased with either currency and folding that choice into the main totals would double-count it.

The wall budget is never reduced by the generic cost reduction field, since a generic reduction percentage cannot be proven to apply to wall levels specifically.

Dataset Accuracy and Scope

Clash of Clans is a live-service game — Supercell regularly changes upgrade costs, durations, and maximum levels in balance updates. This calculator uses a reviewed, versioned snapshot rather than live scraping: TH18 July 2026 planning snapshot, last verified July 3, 2026. Category totals were reviewed against official Supercell release notes and cross-checked with community-maintained cumulative cost tables where Supercell does not publish a permanent all-level export.

This first release covers Home Village only. It excludes Builder Base, Clan Capital, Hero Equipment (which uses different currencies and progression rules), cosmetics, scenery, and event-only upgrades. Baseline estimates also exclude Books, Hammers, Runes, Potions, Gems, event boosts, Builder Apprentice, Lab Assistant, Goblin Builder, temporary helper events, and any idle time your queues actually sit empty.

Because the initial release does not include an item-by-item village editor, category progress is intentionally lightweight — an account with unevenly upgraded buildings within the same category can differ from this estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to max a Town Hall in Clash of Clans?
It depends on your builder count, how much Laboratory research remains, and how active your queues stay. At higher Town Halls the Laboratory queue is frequently the true bottleneck, not builders, since research runs through a single queue no matter how many builders you own. Enter your own progress to get a plan-specific estimate rather than a generic average.
Does builder time include Laboratory upgrades?
No. Builder time only covers Buildings, traps, and Heroes — the categories that actually occupy a builder. Laboratory research and Pet House upgrades run through their own separate queues and are never divided by your builder count.
How does adding more builders change the completion time?
More builders divide the total builder workload across more parallel slots, shortening the builder queue's calendar time. They have zero effect on Laboratory or Pet House time. If your Laboratory queue is already the longest track, buying more builders won't change your overall time to max at all.
Are walls included in the Clash of Clans upgrade cost?
Yes, but as a separate flexible budget rather than a fixed Gold or Elixir amount, since wall levels can be purchased with either currency. Wall upgrades don't consume builder time in this model and are never affected by the generic cost reduction field.
Does the calculator include Gold Pass reductions and magic items?
You can enter a generic Reduction percentage for cost, builder time, research time, and pet time, which behaves like a Gold Pass-style perk without being tied to that specific product. Books, Hammers, Runes, Potions, Gems, and other magic items are excluded from the baseline estimate — the calculator assumes you're not using them.
Why is my in-game upgrade time different from the estimate?
This is an ideal estimate that assumes builders, the Laboratory, and the Pet House stay continuously active with no idle time. Real accounts lose time whenever a queue sits empty, whenever storage caps limit how much you can bank, or whenever farming can't keep up with upgrade costs — none of which this baseline model accounts for.
Should I max every Town Hall before upgrading?
That depends on your wars, army compositions, hero levels, and personal goals — there's no universally correct answer. "Plan to target" mode models fully maxing every included stage so you can see the full cost of that approach, but it isn't a recommendation to always max or always rush; both strategies are valid depending on what you're optimizing for.
Does this calculator include Builder Base or Hero Equipment?
No. This first release is Home Village only. Builder Base, Clan Capital, and Hero Equipment each use different currencies and progression systems and are excluded rather than folded into the existing resource totals, which would misrepresent both systems.
