Understanding the Chaos:Divine Ratio in PoE2
In Path of Exile 2, Chaos Orbs function as the primary mid-tier trading currency — most items priced under one Divine Orb are listed in Chaos. Divine Orbs represent the premium tier, used to trade high-value unique items, top-tier rare gear, and crafting services. The Chaos:Divine ratio is essentially the "exchange rate" between these two economies.
Unlike PoE1 where Divine Orbs replaced Exalted Orbs as the high-value currency after the Sentinel league, PoE2's economy established Divines as the go-to premium currency from launch. In PoE2, Exalted Orbs have a much lower value than they held in PoE1 — they add a random modifier to a rare item, a function that is useful but far more common than the crafting demand in PoE1.
The Chaos:Divine ratio shifts throughout every league. At league start, Divines are relatively rare while players focus on mapping and gearing up, so the ratio tends to be low (50–80c per Divine). During mid-league, as players farm endgame content and currency accumulates, the ratio climbs (100–200c). By end of league, experienced players stockpile Chaos from bulk selling and the ratio can climb to 250–400c or higher.

When pricing your items, always express the value in the appropriate currency tier. Items worth under 1 Divine should be listed in Chaos Orbs. Items worth 1 Divine or more should be listed in Divine Orbs with a decimal (e.g., "1.5 Divines"). Listing a 300 Chaos item as "300c" vs "2 Divines" at the current ratio can affect whether it sells, since buyers filter by currency.
