How CS2 Premier Rating Percentiles Work
Counter-Strike 2 is consistently the single most-played game on Steam by concurrent players — regularly over a million at once, with an all-time peak above 1.8 million. Premier mode is where the vast majority of that competitive population lives, and it uses a single numeric CS Rating instead of the old Silver-to-Global-Elite rank ladder.
CS Rating is colour-coded in fixed 5,000-point bands — Gray, Light Blue, Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, and Yellow — with promotion and relegation matches triggered at each boundary. Valve doesn't publish official population statistics for these bands, so the distribution below is an aggregated estimate from community stat trackers, not an official figure. The calculator above uses that same distribution to interpolate a precise percentile for any rating, rather than just telling you which of the 7 bands you're in.

Almost a third of all Premier players (32%) sit in the Blue tier, 10,000–14,999 rating — the single largest band by far. Reaching 20,000 (Pink) already puts you ahead of 85% of the player base, and 30,000+ (Yellow) is reserved for roughly the top 1%.

What's a Good CS2 Rating?
Under this distribution model, the average (mean) Premier rating works out to roughly 13,275, while the median (the exact 50th-percentile rating — half of players above, half below) is roughly 12,656. Both land inside the Blue tier, and the average sits meaningfully above the median.
That gap is expected, not a mistake: CS2's rating distribution is right-skewed — most players cluster in the Gray-to-Purple range, with a long, thin tail of high-rating players stretching all the way to 38,000+. A long tail like that pulls the average up above the median, which is exactly what the calculator above reflects when it shows your rating against both reference points.

How is Premier rating different from competitive ranks?
Premier uses one continuous numeric rating (0 to 40,000+) with map-pick/ban and map-specific play, replacing the old Silver-to-Global-Elite named rank ladder used in Competitive mode. The two systems track separate skill estimates.
Why did my rating drop after a good match?
Premier rating factors in your team's win/loss and your performance relative to the other 9 players in that specific match, not just kills — a strong statline on the losing side of a lopsided match can still cost rating.
