How Apex Legends Ranked LP Works (2026)

The Apex Legends ranked system uses League Points (LP) to track your progress through five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond — each split into four divisions (IV to I). Master starts at 5,000 LP and has no upper cap; the Predator badge is awarded to the top 750 players on each platform's leaderboard above Master.

Every ranked match has two LP components working against each other. First, an entry cost is deducted before the game even starts — this penalty increases with your rank tier (0 LP in Bronze, up to 48 LP in Diamond). Then, LP is earned through placement (where you finish) and kill/assist bonuses. Your net LP gain or loss is the difference between what you earn and what the entry cost takes away.

Diamond players who go inactive for more than 24 hours also face LP decay: −25 LP per inactive day. Playing at least one ranked game every day resets the decay timer, so daily play is immune. This calculator lets you toggle decay on to see how inactivity affects your grind timeline.

Kill and assist LP is combined and capped at 175 LP per game. Assists award +6 LP each. Placement ranges: Champion +100, 2nd–3rd +60, 4th–5th +40, 6th–10th +20, 11th–15th +5, 16th–20th +0.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much LP do you need to reach Masters in Apex Legends?

You need 5,000 total LP to reach Master. Since Bronze IV starts at 0 LP and each division holds 250 LP, the full ladder spans 20 divisions across 5 rank tiers. Most players grinding from Gold will need to gain 2,000–3,000 LP — which translates to 50–150 ranked games depending on their average net LP per match.

Does Apex LP decay if I stop playing?

Yes — but only once you reach Diamond. Diamond players lose 25 LP per day after going 24 hours without playing a ranked game. Playing at least one game per day resets the decay timer and prevents any loss. Players in Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum are completely immune to decay regardless of inactivity.

How many kills per game do I need to gain LP in Apex ranked?

It depends on your placement and rank tier. In Gold (entry cost 24 LP), landing in 11th–15th place earns only +5 LP, so you need at least 2 kills (+24 LP) just to break even. Landing in the top 10 (+20 LP) already covers the entry cost and gains you LP with zero kills. The best way to gain LP efficiently is a combination of surviving into the top 10 and securing 2–4 kills per game.

What is the entry cost in Apex ranked and why does it exist?

The entry cost is LP deducted before each ranked match starts. It scales with your rank tier — 0 LP in Bronze, 12 in Silver, 24 in Gold, 36 in Platinum, and 48 in Diamond. The mechanic exists to prevent high-ranked players from stalling indefinitely at their peak: if you're not performing consistently, entry costs will gradually push your LP down to your true skill level.

Is it possible to gain LP with a bad placement in Apex?

Yes, as long as your kill/assist LP offsets the entry cost after a low-placement game. For example: dying 16th–20th earns 0 placement LP, so in Diamond (−48 entry cost) you'd need 4+ kills just to avoid losing LP. In Bronze (0 entry cost), kills are pure profit regardless of placement. As you climb into higher tiers, kills become increasingly important to compensate for low-placement games.
